Nuplazid (pimavanserin) is an antipsychotic medicine approved by the FDA specifically for the treatment of hallucinations and delusions associated with Parkinson's disease psychosis (PDP).
Nuplazid works differently from older antipsychotic medicines. It selectively targets serotonin 5-HT2A receptors, without significant activity at dopamine receptors — a mechanism thought to reduce psychotic symptoms in Parkinson's disease without worsening the motor symptoms that dopamine-blocking antipsychotics can cause.
Nuplazid is indicated only for hallucinations and delusions that are associated with Parkinson's disease psychosis. It is not approved for dementia-related psychosis generally, unless the hallucinations and delusions are specifically related to Parkinson's disease.
The recommended dose of Nuplazid is 34 mg taken orally once daily, as two 17 mg capsules or one 34 mg capsule, with no titration required.
Boxed Warning — Nuplazid: Elderly patients with dementia-related psychosis treated with antipsychotic drugs are at an increased risk of death. Nuplazid is not approved for the treatment of patients with dementia-related psychosis unless the hallucinations and delusions are associated with Parkinson's disease psychosis.
Nuplazid can prolong the QT interval. It should be avoided in patients with a history of cardiac arrhythmias, as well as in combination with other medicines known to prolong the QT interval, and in patients with congenital long QT syndrome.
Patients should be monitored for worsening of psychotic symptoms, cardiac symptoms, or signs consistent with QT prolongation while on treatment.
Dose considerations may apply in patients with significant renal or hepatic impairment; a treating physician should assess these factors before starting treatment.

Nuplazid is manufactured and marketed by Acadia Pharmaceuticals. It is sourced through authorized distribution channels for patients seeking named-patient import into India.
Patients typically need a valid prescription from a treating neurologist confirming a diagnosis of Parkinson's disease psychosis. NPP's regulatory team assists in preparing and verifying the documentation needed for a compliant import.
As an FDA-approved therapy for Parkinson's disease psychosis, Nuplazid is sourced through authorized channels and imported under GDP-compliant logistics to preserve product quality throughout transit.
NPP sources Nuplazid directly from authorized pharmaceutical distributors to ensure product authenticity and full traceability. Every shipment is handled under Good Distribution Practice (GDP) conditions from origin to the patient's doorstep.
Nuplazid should be stored at 20°C to 25°C, with excursions permitted between 15°C and 30°C, and this condition is maintained throughout transit.
Once documentation and regulatory approvals are in place, delivery timelines are communicated transparently at the time of quotation, accounting for import clearance and last-mile logistics to the patient's city.
