Narlumosbart is an injectable antibody for giant cell tumour of bone (GCTB), a rare tumour that destroys bone, most often in the arms and legs, the spine, the sacrum or the pelvis. It was developed by Shanghai JMT-Bio Technology, part of CSPC Pharmaceutical Group, and is sold in China under the brand name 津立生®.
China's National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) approved it with conditions in September 2023, through priority review, for adults with:
It is a prescription cancer medicine and should only be used under an orthopaedic oncologist or medical oncologist.
GCTB is driven by large "giant" cells that behave like osteoclasts, the cells that break down bone. They are switched on by a signal protein called RANKL. Narlumosbart is a fully human IgG4 monoclonal antibody that grabs RANKL and stops it from reaching its receptor, RANK. This holds back the giant cells and the bone destruction they cause. CSPC reports it is the first IgG4-type anti-RANKL antibody approved anywhere.
The main phase Ib/II study, published in Nature Communications in 2024, treated 139 people at hospitals across China, and 135 were assessed for response. Their median age was 33, and most had tumours that were very hard to operate on. Results included:
The most common reason for stopping treatment in the study was that the tumour could then be fully removed by surgery.
In the study the schedule was:
The vial strength and exact label dosing are those printed on the Chinese pack and leaflet. Your specialist sets the plan, including how long to treat before surgery.

Low phosphate and calcium: these were the most common side effects linked to treatment, hypophosphataemia in 23.7% and hypocalcaemia in 16.5% of patients. None were severe (grade 3 or higher), but blood calcium and phosphate should be checked during treatment, and calcium and vitamin D supplements were given alongside in the study.
Overall: 64.7% had at least one side effect linked to treatment, but only 2.2% had a severe one, and no serious treatment-related side effects were seen. No one stopped treatment permanently because of side effects. Discuss pregnancy, breastfeeding and contraception with your specialist before starting, and always read the leaflet supplied with the pack.

The injection can be imported only in the patient's name, by the patient or a government hospital, in line with India's import regulations for unapproved medicines. You will need:
Once we have received and checked a valid prescription and, where needed, an import permit.
No. It is approved only in China. It has no CDSCO approval, it is not sold in Indian pharmacies, and the US FDA and European Medicines Agency have not approved it either.
Patients can still get it legally through the Named Patient Program (NPP), which allows a medicine not registered in India to be imported for one specific patient on a prescription. For other rare, locally aggressive tumours, see our pages on Romvimza (tenosynovial giant cell tumour, a different joint tumour) and Ogsiveo (desmoid tumours).
It can be made available to patients, doctors, and hospitals across major cities in India, including Gurgaon, Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Hyderabad, Mysore, Kerala, Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Pune, Nagpur, Nashik, Jaipur, Udaipur, Lucknow, Kanpur, Gorakhpur, Chandigarh, Mohali, Faridabad, Noida, Ghaziabad, Kochi, Trivandrum, Kozhikode, Thrissur, Kannur, Mangalore, Bhubaneswar, Patna, Ranchi, Raipur, Guwahati, Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Goa, Jammu, Srinagar, Dehradun, Bhopal, Indore, Ludhiana, Amritsar, and others — and can facilitate delivery to the patient's treating hospital. Orders are confirmed only after receipt of a valid doctor's prescription and an import permit, where applicable.
NamedPatientProgram.com (NPP) sources this medicine through the manufacturer's authorised supply channels in China and arranges supply to patients, doctors, and hospitals under applicable legal provisions. The injections travel in their sealed original packs under temperature-controlled shipping and are stored as directed on the pack. Because the first month needs three doses (days 1, 8 and 15) and then one every four weeks, we plan the first order and repeat orders separately. All prescriptions are dispensed and checked by registered pharmacists and dispatched from New Delhi, India, after legal requirements are fulfilled.
