Adamgammadex is a new injection used at the end of an operation to reverse the muscle relaxant rocuronium, so the patient can breathe on their own again. It was designed by Hangzhou Adamerck Pharmlabs in China and is made by Zhejiang Xianju Pharmaceutical. In China it is sold as 奥美克松® (Aomeikesong), with the Chinese name 阿更葡糖钠注射液.
China's National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) approved it in 2026 (the approval was announced on 2 July 2026) for:
It belongs with our medicines for specialist hospital care and is given only by anaesthesia staff in the operating theatre.
During many operations, rocuronium is used to relax the muscles. At the end, any drug left behind can leave the patient weak, which can affect breathing. Adamgammadex is a modified ring-shaped sugar molecule (a γ-cyclodextrin). It wraps around rocuronium molecules in the blood, traps them and pulls them away from the muscles, so muscle strength comes back within minutes. Compared with older cyclodextrins, one part of its side chains (the α-carbon) carries an added chiral acetylamino group, which its developers designed to grip rocuronium more firmly.
Two phase 3 trials in China, both published in the British Journal of Anaesthesia, compared it with an established reversal medicine:
In both trials it met the pre-set standard for working as well as the comparison medicine.
According to the Chinese label, it is given as one quick injection into a vein, completed within 10 seconds:
Each 2 mL holds 250 mg. As an example, a 70 kg adult needs 280 mg for a moderate block or 560 mg for a deep block. The anaesthetist decides the dose from nerve-stimulator readings.
This information is not a treatment plan. For personalized medical advice, consult your doctor and refer to the full prescribing information.
Overall safety: across phase 1 to 3 studies, no side effect was very common (10% or more). The common and uncommon ones were all mild or moderate (grade 1 or 2), and there were no serious side effects and no stops because of side effects. No allergic or hypersensitivity reactions and no throat spasm (laryngospasm) were seen with it in the trials.

The injection can be imported only in the patient's name, by the patient or a government hospital, in line with India's import regulations for unapproved medicines. You will need:
Once we have received and checked a valid prescription and, where needed, an import permit.
No. It is approved only in China. It has no CDSCO approval, it is not sold in Indian pharmacies, and the US FDA and European Medicines Agency have not approved it either.
Hospitals can still request it legally through the Named Patient Program (NPP), which allows a medicine not registered in India to be imported for one specific patient on a prescription. Anaesthesia teams may also find our page on Dantrium useful, used in the rare emergency of malignant hyperthermia.
It can be made available to patients, doctors, and hospitals across major cities in India, including Gurgaon, Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Hyderabad, Mysore, Kerala, Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Pune, Nagpur, Nashik, Jaipur, Udaipur, Lucknow, Kanpur, Gorakhpur, Chandigarh, Mohali, Faridabad, Noida, Ghaziabad, Kochi, Trivandrum, Kozhikode, Thrissur, Kannur, Mangalore, Bhubaneswar, Patna, Ranchi, Raipur, Guwahati, Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Goa, Jammu, Srinagar, Dehradun, Bhopal, Indore, Ludhiana, Amritsar, and others — and can facilitate delivery to the patient's treating hospital. Orders are confirmed only after receipt of a valid doctor's prescription and an import permit, where applicable.
NamedPatientProgram.com (NPP) sources this medicine through the manufacturer's authorised supply channels in China and arranges supply to doctors and hospitals under applicable legal provisions. The injection travels sealed in its original packs under temperature-controlled shipping and is stored as directed on the pack. Since the dose depends on body weight and on how deep the block is, we help the hospital work out how many packs to keep for the planned operation. All prescriptions are dispensed and checked by registered pharmacists and dispatched from New Delhi, India, after legal requirements are fulfilled.
