Fotagliptin is a once-a-day tablet for type 2 diabetes, developed in China by Shenzhen Salubris Pharmaceuticals, where it is sold as 信立汀® (Xinliting). It helps the body make better use of its own blood-sugar hormones, so sugar levels come down after meals and between them.
China's National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) approved it on 28 June 2024 as a Class 1 innovative drug, to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes:
It is a prescription diabetes and hormone medicine and should be used under an endocrinologist, diabetologist or physician.
After a meal, the gut releases two hormones, GLP-1 and GIP, that tell the pancreas to release insulin and hold back glucagon, the hormone that raises sugar. An enzyme called DPP-4 breaks these hormones down within minutes. Fotagliptin blocks DPP-4, so the hormones last longer. Because they work only when blood sugar is raised, insulin is released in a glucose-dependent way, which is why low sugar episodes were uncommon in the trial.
The phase 3 trial, published in BMC Medicine in 2023, enrolled 458 adults in China whose type 2 diabetes was not controlled by diet and exercise. After 24 weeks, HbA1c fell by 0.70% with fotagliptin against 0.26% with placebo, a difference of 0.44%. 37.0% of people on fotagliptin reached an HbA1c below 7.0%, compared with 15.5% on placebo. It worked as well as an established comparison medicine of the same class (HbA1c fall of 0.72%), and body weight stayed within 1 kg over 52 weeks.

The tablets can be imported only in the patient's name, by the patient or a government hospital, in line with India's import regulations for unapproved medicines. You will need:
Once we have received and checked a valid prescription and, where needed, an import permit.
No. It is approved only in China. It has no CDSCO approval, it is not sold in Indian pharmacies, and the US FDA and European Medicines Agency have not approved it either.
Patients can still get it legally through the Named Patient Program (NPP), which allows a medicine not registered in India to be imported for one specific patient on a prescription.
It can be made available to patients, doctors, and hospitals across major cities in India, including Gurgaon, Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Hyderabad, Mysore, Kerala, Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Pune, Nagpur, Nashik, Jaipur, Udaipur, Lucknow, Kanpur, Gorakhpur, Chandigarh, Mohali, Faridabad, Noida, Ghaziabad, Kochi, Trivandrum, Kozhikode, Thrissur, Kannur, Mangalore, Bhubaneswar, Patna, Ranchi, Raipur, Guwahati, Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Goa, Jammu, Srinagar, Dehradun, Bhopal, Indore, Ludhiana, Amritsar, and others — and can facilitate delivery to the patient's treating hospital. Orders are confirmed only after receipt of a valid doctor's prescription and an import permit, where applicable.
NamedPatientProgram.com (NPP) sources this medicine through the manufacturer's authorised supply channels in China and arranges supply to patients, doctors, and hospitals under applicable legal provisions. Because diabetes treatment is long term, we can plan supply in blocks of several months so there is no gap between orders. The tablets travel in their sealed original packs under temperature-controlled shipping and should be stored as directed on the pack. All prescriptions are dispensed and checked by registered pharmacists and dispatched from New Delhi, India, after legal requirements are fulfilled.
