Tavlesse (fostamatinib) is a spleen tyrosine kinase (SYK) inhibitor approved in the European Union and United Kingdom for the treatment of chronic immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) in adult patients who have had an insufficient response to a previous treatment. Tavlesse is marketed in Europe by Grifols under license from Rigel Pharmaceuticals, which markets the same active ingredient in the United States under the brand name Tavalisse.
Tavlesse inhibits spleen tyrosine kinase (SYK), a protein involved in the antibody-mediated destruction of platelets that occurs in immune thrombocytopenia. By blocking SYK signaling, Tavlesse helps reduce platelet destruction and increase platelet counts.
Tavlesse is intended for adults with chronic ITP who have not achieved an adequate platelet response with a previous ITP treatment, such as corticosteroids, immunoglobulins, or other standard therapies.
The recommended starting dose of Tavlesse is 100 mg orally twice daily, which may be increased to 150 mg twice daily after four weeks if platelet counts remain below 50 x 10⁹/L.
Tavlesse does not use the FDA-style formal boxed warning format, as it is marketed under the EU/UK regulatory framework. However, patients and prescribers should be aware of the following important safety information.
New or worsening hypertension, including hypertensive crisis, has been reported. Blood pressure should be monitored before and regularly during treatment.
Liver function tests should be monitored monthly during the first several months of treatment, as liver enzyme elevations have been observed.
Severe diarrhea and neutropenia have been reported and may require dose modification or interruption.
Tavlesse may cause fetal harm and is contraindicated during pregnancy. Effective contraception should be used during treatment.

Tavlesse is marketed by Grifols for the EU and UK markets, under license from Rigel Pharmaceuticals. It is sourced through authorized European distribution channels for patients seeking named-patient import into India. The same active ingredient, fostamatinib, is marketed in the United States under the brand name Tavalisse.
Patients typically need a valid prescription from a treating hematologist confirming chronic ITP diagnosis and prior treatment history. NPP's regulatory team assists in preparing and verifying the documentation needed for a compliant import.
As an EU/UK-approved therapy for chronic ITP, Tavlesse is sourced through authorized channels and imported under GDP-compliant logistics to preserve product quality throughout transit.
NPP sources Tavlesse directly from authorized European pharmaceutical distributors to ensure product authenticity and full traceability. Every shipment is handled under Good Distribution Practice (GDP) conditions from origin to the patient's doorstep.
Tavlesse should be stored at 20°C to 25°C, with excursions permitted between 15°C and 30°C, and this condition is maintained throughout transit.
Once documentation and regulatory approvals are in place, delivery timelines are communicated transparently at the time of quotation, accounting for import clearance and last-mile logistics to the patient's city.
