Leqembi (lecanemab-irmb) is a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody approved by the FDA for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. It is indicated for patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) or the mild dementia stage of Alzheimer's disease, the population in which it was studied in clinical trials.
Leqembi targets aggregated soluble and insoluble forms of amyloid beta, a protein that forms plaques in the brains of people with Alzheimer's disease. By binding to and helping clear these amyloid deposits, Leqembi is designed to slow the underlying disease process rather than only managing symptoms.
Leqembi is intended for patients confirmed to have amyloid beta pathology through appropriate diagnostic testing, and who are in the early (MCI or mild dementia) stage of Alzheimer's disease. It is not intended for later disease stages.
Leqembi is available as an intravenous infusion, dosed at 10 mg/kg every two weeks, or as a subcutaneous injection regimen with a weekly loading phase followed by maintenance dosing. The treating neurologist determines the appropriate formulation and schedule based on the patient's clinical profile.
Boxed Warning — Leqembi: Leqembi can cause amyloid related imaging abnormalities (ARIA), which commonly present as temporary swelling in areas of the brain (ARIA-E) that usually resolves over time, and may be accompanied by small spots of bleeding (ARIA-H). Serious and life-threatening events, including intracerebral hemorrhage, have occurred. The risk of ARIA, including symptomatic ARIA, is increased in patients who are homozygous for the apolipoprotein E ε4 (ApoE ε4) allele. Testing for ApoE ε4 status is recommended before starting treatment to inform the risk of ARIA.
Periodic MRI monitoring is required to detect ARIA, including before initiating treatment and before several subsequent doses. Symptoms of ARIA can include headache, confusion, visual changes, dizziness, nausea, and seizure, though many cases are asymptomatic and detected only on MRI.
Hypersensitivity reactions, including anaphylaxis, have been reported. Signs may include angioedema and urticaria.
Infusion-related reactions have occurred, most commonly during or shortly after the first infusion, with symptoms such as fever and flu-like symptoms, nausea, vomiting, and changes in blood pressure.
Caution is advised in patients taking anticoagulant or thrombolytic medications due to a potentially increased risk of intracerebral hemorrhage in the setting of ARIA.

Leqembi is manufactured and marketed by Eisai Inc. in the United States, in collaboration with Biogen. It is approved by the FDA for early-stage Alzheimer's disease and is sourced through authorized US distribution channels for patients seeking named-patient import into India.
Patients typically need a valid prescription from a treating neurologist confirming amyloid beta pathology and the appropriate disease stage, along with supporting diagnostic records (PET scan or CSF biomarker results). NPP's regulatory team assists in preparing and verifying the documentation needed for a compliant import.
As an FDA-approved therapy for a serious neurodegenerative condition, Leqembi is sourced through authorized channels and imported under GDP-compliant, cold-chain logistics to preserve product quality throughout transit.
NPP sources Leqembi directly from authorized US pharmaceutical distributors to ensure product authenticity and full traceability. Every shipment is handled under Good Distribution Practice (GDP) conditions from origin to the patient's doorstep.
Leqembi requires refrigerated storage at 2°C to 8°C throughout transit and storage, and NPP maintains a continuous, monitored cold chain to preserve product integrity.
Once documentation and regulatory approvals are in place, delivery timelines are communicated transparently at the time of quotation, accounting for import clearance and last-mile cold-chain logistics to the patient's city.
