Xacduro (sulbactam for injection; durlobactam for injection) is a co-packaged antibacterial combination approved by the FDA for the treatment of hospital-acquired bacterial pneumonia and ventilator-associated bacterial pneumonia (HABP/VABP) in patients 18 years and older, caused by susceptible isolates of Acinetobacter baumannii-calcoaceticus complex.
Xacduro combines sulbactam, a beta-lactam antibacterial, with durlobactam, a beta-lactamase inhibitor that protects sulbactam from being broken down by resistance enzymes commonly produced by Acinetobacter species. This combination restores sulbactam's effectiveness against a pathogen that is often highly drug-resistant.
Xacduro is intended for hospitalized adult patients with confirmed or suspected HABP/VABP caused by Acinetobacter baumannii-calcoaceticus complex, a pathogen associated with high rates of antibiotic resistance and serious infection risk in critically ill patients.
The recommended dose is 1 gram sulbactam plus 1 gram durlobactam administered intravenously over 3 hours every 6 hours, for patients with a creatinine clearance of 45 to 129 mL/min, with dose adjustments required for renal impairment or higher clearance.
Xacduro does not carry a formal FDA boxed warning. However, patients and prescribers should be aware of the following important safety information.
Serious and occasionally fatal hypersensitivity (anaphylactic) reactions have been reported with beta-lactam antibacterials, including Xacduro. Before initiating treatment, careful inquiry should be made about prior hypersensitivity reactions.
Clostridioides difficile-associated diarrhea has been reported with nearly all antibacterial agents, including Xacduro, and can range from mild to life-threatening.
Prescribing Xacduro in the absence of a confirmed or strongly suspected bacterial infection is unlikely to provide benefit and increases the risk of developing drug-resistant bacteria.

Xacduro is manufactured and marketed by La Jolla Pharmaceutical Company, an Innoviva company. It is sourced through authorized distribution channels for patients seeking named-patient import into India.
Patients typically need a valid prescription from a treating infectious disease specialist or intensivist confirming HABP/VABP diagnosis and Acinetobacter species testing where available. NPP's regulatory team assists in preparing and verifying the documentation needed for a compliant import.
As an FDA-approved therapy for Acinetobacter-related hospital-acquired pneumonia, Xacduro is sourced through authorized channels and imported under GDP-compliant, cold-chain logistics to preserve product quality throughout transit.
NPP sources Xacduro directly from authorized pharmaceutical distributors to ensure product authenticity and full traceability. Every shipment is handled under Good Distribution Practice (GDP) conditions from origin to the patient's doorstep.
Xacduro requires refrigerated storage at 2°C to 8°C, with brief exposure to 8°C to 15°C permitted. NPP maintains appropriate cold-chain handling throughout transit.
Once documentation and regulatory approvals are in place, delivery timelines are communicated transparently at the time of quotation, accounting for import clearance and last-mile cold-chain logistics to the patient's city.
