Sunlenca (lenacapavir) is a long-acting HIV-1 capsid inhibitor approved by the FDA, used in combination with other antiretroviral medicines, for the treatment of HIV-1 infection in heavily treatment-experienced adults with multidrug-resistant HIV-1 whose current antiretroviral regimen is failing due to resistance, intolerance, or safety considerations.
Sunlenca inhibits the HIV-1 capsid, a protein shell that protects the virus's genetic material and is essential for multiple steps in the viral life cycle, including replication and infectivity. By disrupting capsid function, Sunlenca blocks HIV-1 at several distinct stages, making it effective even against multidrug-resistant strains.
Sunlenca is intended for adults with HIV-1 who have tried multiple prior antiretroviral regimens and have developed resistance, making their current treatment regimen ineffective or unsafe to continue.
Sunlenca is initiated with oral loading doses on Day 1 (927 mg subcutaneous injection plus 600 mg oral) and Day 2 (600 mg oral), followed by a 927 mg subcutaneous injection every 6 months as maintenance therapy, always used in combination with other antiretroviral medicines.
Sunlenca does not carry a formal FDA boxed warning. However, patients and prescribers should be aware of the following important safety information.
In patients treated with combination antiretroviral therapy, including Sunlenca, immune reconstitution syndrome can occur, sometimes triggering an inflammatory response to residual or previous infections.
Sunlenca can remain in the body for up to 12 months or longer after discontinuation, which has implications for resistance if a fully suppressive regimen is not maintained. This should be carefully considered when planning subsequent therapy.
Injection-site reactions, including nodules and induration at the injection site, may occur and can be slow to resolve.

Sunlenca is manufactured and marketed by Gilead Sciences. It is sourced through authorized distribution channels for patients seeking named-patient import into India.
Patients typically need a valid prescription from a treating infectious disease specialist confirming HIV-1 diagnosis, treatment history, and resistance testing results. NPP's regulatory team assists in preparing and verifying the documentation needed for a compliant import.
As an FDA-approved therapy for multidrug-resistant HIV-1, Sunlenca is sourced through authorized channels and imported under GDP-compliant logistics to preserve product quality throughout transit.
NPP sources Sunlenca directly from authorized pharmaceutical distributors to ensure product authenticity and full traceability. Every shipment is handled under Good Distribution Practice (GDP) conditions from origin to the patient's doorstep.
Sunlenca should be stored at 20°C to 25°C, with excursions permitted between 15°C and 30°C, and this condition is maintained throughout transit for both the oral and injectable formulations.
Once documentation and regulatory approvals are in place, delivery timelines are communicated transparently at the time of quotation, accounting for import clearance and last-mile logistics to the patient's city.
