Suraxavir marboxil is a one-dose oral antiviral for flu, developed in China by Jiangxi Qingfeng Pharmaceutical together with Ginkgo Pharmaceutical. It is sold there as 伊速达® (Yisuda), and the marketing licence is held by Jiangxi Kerui Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. A whole course is a single dose taken on one day.
China's National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) approved it in March 2025 for:
It is a prescription infection medicine and should be used only on a doctor's advice.
The tablet contains a "prodrug" that the body turns into its active form, suraxavir. This blocks the PA endonuclease, a part of the flu virus's copying machinery that cuts a cap off the patient's own genetic messages so the virus can start making copies of itself. With that step blocked, the virus cannot multiply. The active form stays in the body for several days (a half-life of roughly 58 to 76 hours in volunteers), which is why one dose is enough.
The phase 3 trial, published in Nature Medicine in 2025, included 591 otherwise healthy outpatients aged 5 to 65 at 46 centres in China, all treated within 2 days of their first flu symptoms. A single 40 mg dose eased flu symptoms in a median of 42 hours compared with 63 hours on placebo. One day after the dose, the amount of virus had dropped much faster than with placebo. An earlier phase 2 trial, in which almost all patients had influenza B, also showed faster recovery (median 46 to 50 hours compared with 82 hours on placebo).
Your doctor will confirm whether it suits you. Like all flu antivirals, it works best when started early.
This information is not a treatment plan. For personalized medical advice, consult your doctor and refer to the full prescribing information.
Side effects: in the phase 3 trial, 28.4% of people who took suraxavir marboxil reported a side effect of any kind, compared with 23.3% on placebo, and most were mild or moderate. Diarrhoea was the most often reported side effect in the phase 2 trial (7.6%).
It treats the flu virus only. A cough or fever that gets worse, or breathlessness, can mean a chest infection that needs separate care. Safety in pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been established in the published data, so discuss this with your doctor first.

The tablets can be imported only in the patient's name, by the patient or a government hospital, in line with India's import regulations for unapproved medicines. You will need:
Once we have received and checked a valid prescription and, where needed, an import permit.
No. It is approved only in China. It has no CDSCO approval, it is not sold in Indian pharmacies, and the US FDA and European Medicines Agency have not approved it either.
Patients can still get it legally through the Named Patient Program (NPP), which allows a medicine not registered in India to be imported for one specific patient on a prescription. Because the dose must be taken within 48 hours of the first symptoms, ask your doctor whether the import timeline still fits. For other imported antiviral tablets, see our pages on Simnotrelvir and Livtencity.
