Livtencity (maribavir) is an antiviral medicine approved by the FDA for the treatment of adults and pediatric patients (12 years and older, weighing at least 35 kg) with post-transplant cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection or disease that is refractory to treatment (with or without genotypic resistance) with ganciclovir, valganciclovir, cidofovir, or foscarnet.
Livtencity inhibits the CMV UL97 protein kinase and its natural substrates, which are required for viral DNA processing and packaging as well as for the disruption of the host cell's nuclear envelope during viral replication, thereby reducing CMV replication.
Livtencity is intended for transplant recipients (solid organ or hematopoietic stem cell) whose CMV infection has not responded adequately to standard first-line antiviral therapies, or where resistance has developed.
The recommended dose of Livtencity is 400 mg (two 200 mg tablets) taken orally twice daily, with or without food.
Livtencity does not carry a formal FDA boxed warning. However, patients and prescribers should be aware of the following important safety information.
Livtencity antagonizes the antiviral activity of ganciclovir and valganciclovir against CMV when used together. Coadministration with these medicines is not recommended.
Reduced susceptibility to Livtencity can occur during treatment. Viral load should be monitored, and treatment reassessed if there is no improvement or if CMV DNA levels increase.
Livtencity has significant drug interactions, including increased concentrations of immunosuppressants such as tacrolimus, cyclosporine, and sirolimus, which require frequent monitoring during treatment.
Dysgeusia (altered taste) is a commonly reported side effect and may affect appetite and nutritional intake in some patients.

Livtencity is manufactured and marketed by Takeda Pharmaceuticals America, Inc. It is sourced through authorized distribution channels for patients seeking named-patient import into India.
Patients typically need a valid prescription from a treating transplant physician or infectious disease specialist confirming refractory CMV infection and prior treatment history. NPP's regulatory team assists in preparing and verifying the documentation needed for a compliant import.
As an FDA-approved therapy for refractory post-transplant CMV infection, Livtencity is sourced through authorized channels and imported under GDP-compliant logistics to preserve product quality throughout transit.
NPP sources Livtencity directly from authorized pharmaceutical distributors to ensure product authenticity and full traceability. Every shipment is handled under Good Distribution Practice (GDP) conditions from origin to the patient's doorstep.
Livtencity should be stored at 20°C to 25°C, with brief excursions to 15°C to 30°C permitted, and this condition is maintained throughout transit.
Once documentation and regulatory approvals are in place, delivery timelines are communicated transparently at the time of quotation, accounting for import clearance and last-mile logistics to the patient's city.
