Onradivir is an oral antiviral tablet for influenza A (flu A), developed in China by Guangdong Raynovent Biotech, where it is sold as 安睿威® (Anruiwei). It was created together with the Guangzhou National Laboratory and the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University, and it is the first approved flu medicine that works on the PB2 part of the virus.
China's National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) approved it in May 2025 for:
It is a prescription infection medicine and should be used only on a doctor's advice, after flu A has been confirmed or is strongly suspected.
To multiply, the flu virus "steals" a small cap from the patient's own genetic messages and uses it to start copying itself. That job is done by the virus's polymerase, and one part of it, called PB2, grabs the cap. Onradivir blocks PB2, so the virus cannot start making new copies. Because this target is different from older flu medicines, laboratory studies showed it still worked against flu A strains that had become resistant to them.
The phase 3 trial, published in The Lancet Respiratory Medicine in 2025, enrolled adults aged 18 to 64 at 68 hospitals in China, all with fever and flu A confirmed by a rapid test within 48 hours of their first symptoms. Among the 702 people with confirmed flu A, symptoms eased in a median of 38.8 hours with onradivir compared with 63.4 hours with placebo, about a day sooner. Its results were similar to those of a standard flu medicine that was also tested in the same trial (median 42.2 hours).
Your doctor will decide whether this medicine is right for you. Flu medicines work best when they are started early, so timing matters.
This information is not a treatment plan. For personalized medical advice, consult your doctor and refer to the full prescribing information.
Diarrhoea: this was the most common side effect. In the phase 3 trial it affected 49% of people taking onradivir compared with 23% on placebo. Most cases were mild to moderate, lasted a median of 2 days and settled without any treatment. Drink enough fluids, and tell your doctor if it is severe or does not stop.
Side effects in the trial: 67% of people on onradivir reported a side effect of some kind, compared with 55% on placebo, and the difference was mostly due to diarrhoea. Safety in pregnancy, breastfeeding and in people with serious liver or kidney disease has not been established in the published data, so discuss this with your doctor first.

The tablets can be imported only in the patient's name, by the patient or a government hospital, in line with India's import regulations for unapproved medicines. You will need:
Once we have received and checked a valid prescription and, where needed, an import permit.
No. It is approved only in China. It has no CDSCO approval, it is not sold in Indian pharmacies, and the US FDA and European Medicines Agency have not approved it either.
Patients can still get it legally through the Named Patient Program (NPP), which allows a medicine not registered in India to be imported for one specific patient on a prescription. Because an import takes time and flu treatment should start early, ask your doctor whether the timing still suits you. Raynovent also makes the COVID-19 tablet Leritrelvir, and for other imported antivirals see our Livtencity page.
It can be made available to patients, doctors, and hospitals across major cities in India, including Gurgaon, Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Hyderabad, Mysore, Kerala, Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Pune, Nagpur, Nashik, Jaipur, Udaipur, Lucknow, Kanpur, Gorakhpur, Chandigarh, Mohali, Faridabad, Noida, Ghaziabad, Kochi, Trivandrum, Kozhikode, Thrissur, Kannur, Mangalore, Bhubaneswar, Patna, Ranchi, Raipur, Guwahati, Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Goa, Jammu, Srinagar, Dehradun, Bhopal, Indore, Ludhiana, Amritsar, and others — and can facilitate delivery to the patient's treating hospital.
