Olgotrelvir is an oral antiviral capsule for COVID-19, developed and made in China by Zhejiang ACEA Pharmaceutical, where it is sold as 奥维宁® (olgotrelvir sodium capsules). It is a short, five-day course, taken on its own, without a second "booster" medicine.
China's National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) gave it conditional approval in late October 2025 (announced 5 November 2025) for:
Conditional approval means the company must still submit further study results to the NMPA. The Chinese label also points out that the virus keeps changing, so doctors should take the variants in circulation into account.
It is a prescription infectious disease medicine and should only be used under a doctor's care.
Once swallowed, olgotrelvir is turned into its active form, AC1115. This blocks the virus's main protease (Mpro, also called 3CL protease), an enzyme the virus needs to build new copies of itself. It also blocks cathepsin L, a protein in our own cells that the virus uses to get inside them. Acting on two targets at once is why the company describes it as a dual-action antiviral.
The phase 3 trial (MPR-COV-301CN), published in NEJM Evidence in 2024, enrolled 1,212 adults in China with mild or moderate COVID-19 who were not in hospital. Most were young (median age 33), vaccinated and had mild illness.
It has not been studied in people with liver or kidney problems, or in anyone under 18. Your doctor decides whether it is suitable for you.

Allergy: it must not be taken by anyone allergic to olgotrelvir or any of the capsule's ingredients. The capsules contain sodium bisulfite, so people who are sensitive to sulfites should use them with caution.
Side effects in the trial: side effects judged to be caused by the medicine occurred in 14.2% of people on olgotrelvir and 9.2% on placebo, and 97.7% of them were mild or moderate. The most common were raised triglycerides (blood fats, 3.1% vs 2.0%), skin rash (2.5% vs 0%) and nausea (1.3% vs 0.2%). No serious side effects linked to the medicine and no deaths were reported.

The capsules can be imported only in the patient's name, by the patient or a government hospital, in line with India's import regulations for unapproved medicines. You will need:
Once we have received and checked a valid prescription and, where needed, an import permit. Because the course should start within three days of symptoms, we tell you the realistic delivery time before you order.
No. It is approved only in China. It has no CDSCO approval, it is not sold in Indian pharmacies, and the US FDA and European Medicines Agency have not approved it either.

We also help with other imported antivirals, such as Livtencity and Foscavir, which are used for different viral infections.
