Sebaloxavir marboxil is a single-dose oral antiviral for flu, developed in China by Zenshine Pharmaceuticals (征祥医药) in Nanjing and sold there as 济可舒® (Jikeshu). The whole course is one dose, taken once. In mainland China it is promoted and sold by JumpCan Pharmaceutical under an agreement with Zenshine.
China's National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) approved it for adults in July 2025 and extended it to adolescents in June 2026. It is now approved for:
It is a prescription infection medicine and should be used only on a doctor's advice.
The tablet is a "prodrug" that the body converts into its active form. This blocks the PA cap-dependent endonuclease, the part of the flu virus that cuts a cap from the patient's own genetic messages so the virus can copy itself. Without it, the virus cannot multiply. The active form lasts a long time in the body (a half-life of about 83 to 126 hours in volunteers), so one dose covers the illness. It is not broken down by the CYP liver enzymes, which lowers the chance of interactions with many everyday medicines.
In the adult phase 2/3 trial, published in Clinical Microbiology and Infection in 2025, a single 80 mg dose eased flu symptoms in a median of 39.4 hours compared with 62.9 hours on placebo. Virus RNA became undetectable in a median of about 41 hours against about 91 hours with placebo. A separate phase 3 trial in teenagers found that a 40 mg dose eased symptoms in a median of about 52 hours compared with about 82 hours on placebo.
Your doctor will confirm whether it suits you. Flu antivirals work best when started early.
This information is not a treatment plan. For personalized medical advice, consult your doctor and refer to the full prescribing information.
Side effects: in the adult phase 3 trial, side effects of any kind were actually reported less often than with placebo (44.2% with the 80 mg dose vs 53.8% with placebo), and most were mild or moderate. Common reactions listed in the Chinese product information for adults include a drop in white blood cells called neutrophils (2.7%), a drop in total white cells (1.0%) and diarrhoea. In teenagers, the listed reactions were sinus arrhythmia (4.4%), a slow heart rate (sinus bradycardia, 3.9%) and raised uric acid (2.2%), mostly mild.
It is not approved for children under 12 or for people at high risk of flu complications. Tell your doctor about all the medicines and supplements you take.

The tablets can be imported only in the patient's name, by the patient or a government hospital, in line with India's import regulations for unapproved medicines. You will need:
Once we have received and checked a valid prescription and, where needed, an import permit.
No. It is approved only in China. It has no CDSCO approval, it is not sold in Indian pharmacies, and the US FDA and European Medicines Agency have not approved it either.
Patients can still get it legally through the Named Patient Program (NPP), which allows a medicine not registered in India to be imported for one specific patient on a prescription. Because the dose should be taken within 48 hours of the first symptoms, ask your doctor whether the import timeline still fits. For other imported antiviral tablets, see our pages on Atilotrelvir and Livtencity.
